New Year's Eve.....The biggest fashion event of the year!

For the most part, most of us have an idea of what we want to wear to the many New Year's Eve events scheduled this week, but for those procrastinators this one's for you!

There are many questions that can arise......dress? pant? long? short? black? color? my, my, my......what should a girl do? and off course as a jewelry company, we must ask "how are you going to accessorize?"

First things first...let's establish that you should look for your body type! Okay that narrows down what you can wear and wear well....so what fashion trends and styles are out there?,

Every woman wants to feel beautiful and glamorous when they step out, if you're someone who loves attention, sequins are a great way of achieving that look. Whether it's in a sleek pant suit or a dress, there's something about sequins that can draw all eyes toward you. If you choose a flashy outfit, you really don't need much accessories or you can use jewelry that is muted.

Sequins are also a great alternative to wearing black....it can be paired with a great pair of earrings and / or a cuff with some semi-precious stones on it (semi precious stones are more muted but provides some "bling" as opposed to the "bling bling" of Swarovski crystal beads)....

For those who prefer the "traditional" LBD (little black dress)? There are many chic and feminine style,s designed by the like of Diane Von Furstenburg, BCBG, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein just to name a few. All designers have amazing versions of the "LBD" so it's just a matter of which designer appeals to your style most. Remember fashion is relative, it's all about what you love!

For those who are familiar with darcy antonia jewelry & accessories know we've reached the point in this blog where I'm going to suggest accessories with a burst of color!......Yup, color is always great, no matter the season. As an accompaniment to a black dress, how about pink, orange, green or even crystal (also known as clear) to enhance the darkness of the gown....to view more accessory options visit us at http://www.darcyantonia.com/

How about something with color this New Year's......color is a great way to express your feelings; neons are hot this winter and would be a great change from the "norm" (whatever that is)! Whether a mini or a knee length cocktail dress, it's all up to you and the look you're going for!

Happy New Year!

Class is dismissed!

We've just completed our first session of our jewelry production and design class! How much fun was that!.....We had a great time and the students have gone away with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to build on........ The six week course was timed perfectly so the students would be completed just before Christmas and would have the option of giving handmade jewelry if so desired. A basic beading skill needed to make jewelry was learnt and each person was presented with their own tool kit. With a variety of glass, natural and semi precious beads used each week, the students left with beautiful jewelry that was ready to be worn!

It's amazing to see how the ladies grew in confidence and created different designs from one concept...... Individuals had their own ideas and the classes allowed them to express themselves and be in total creative control..... We enjoyed each other's company and were able to support and make suggestions to each other as a team....

Every week a different project was completed and we're proud of the results. We will be conducting another session of jewelry design and production I in early 2010 and will be continuing on with jewelry design and production II also in early 2010. We will advise as soon as the dates are finalized for the new classes.

darcy antonia visits with Centerville Primary School Girls Club

We at darcy antonia jewelry believe community outreach is absolutely necessary for communities to flourish; Wednesday November 12th 2009, we visited the Girls Club at Centeville Primary School. This is a group of committed 6th grade girls, who meet during their lunch break to discuss issues prevalent within their age group; they also have the opportunity to receive visits from guests who are there to enlighten them on many different topics, This week's topic was "jewelry design as a career choice."

"Jewelry design as a career choice" brought forward many probing questions from the girls inlcuding how long it takes to make specific pieces, to the cost of the items, to how does one arrive at the selling price, to where does the raw materials come from etc etc etc. We had a wonderful time and were happy to open the girls' eyes to a new career choice.

Many didn't realize jewelry design could become a career, many assumed it could only possibly be an option as a hobby, this was a wonderful group of young enthusiastic, girls who are excited about their future aspirations. Within the group we discovered some aspired to become nurses, lawyers, doctors, teachers, bankers, a veterinarian....kudos to these girls as they go about discovering what their future will hold, we say stay focused and the world will be your stage!

As we seek to empower young people we look forward to visiting many other schools and continue with our various community assignments. If you know of any school you would like us to visit, please feel free to contact us at (242) 324-7607 or by email darcyantonia@yahoo.com

Our sample sale is still going on.....Imagine 50% off all of our remaining samples...what a deal!

Sooo as we get ready to move into the second week in November, and we feel the coolness in the air it means Christmas is right outside our door! What an exciting time of year; it means we gear up for the cheerfulness of the season, socializing with dear friends, visiting with family, gorging ourselves with great food and the exhilarating rivalry of Junkanoo and oh let's not forget the fun of tossing fruit cake!

It's also time to contemplate Christmas gifts.....have you started looking around for gifts ideas? we'll soon be posting pictures of new items that will make great gifts at affordable prices. Just a suggestion of a holiday neutral color; as we work primarily with Swarovski crystal, may I suggest wearing "clear crystal" this season if your not sure of what color would go great with everything. It has an iridescent sparkle that reflects whatever color you may be wearing, simply breathtaking!

We're back. . . . . . . . .

We know it's been too long since you've last heard from us and as you can see we've changed our format! Instead of sending out a newsletter we've decided on blogging....the exciting thing about blogging is that we can share more information and tips with you more often. so as the holiday season is fast approaching we figured what better way to get started than talking about the most exciting time of the year? the holiday season!

As the time changes and the air gets cooler, we begin to feel the excitement of the holiday season which means party's, banquets and balls! Holiday events raise a few questions, color? style? accessories?

Okay so let's help a few folks out (especially those who are fashion challenged)

Now you know we've always been a fan of the "LBD" also known as the little black dress but everywhere you look there is hot pink! can you believe it? for fall?..... HOT PINK? yup, neon colors have made a comeback from the era of the 80's! go figure! Great if you are confident and daring....with a pair of big, bold earrings or a multistrand necklace.

For those who are looking for a more subdued color variation of the "LBD," this season how about trying a "LPD" YUP, you guessed it PURPLE! It is hot this season and is looking more and more fabulous! the darker the fabric, the richer it looks....purple goes great with gold jewelry as they are both are warm color tones....try something simple in gold, a wonderful complement.

We must also recognize the times are changing, and all of these "little dresses" (whether black or purple) are changing with them. We can now see lots of shapes, sleek cutouts and body-hugging silhouettes that bring a very next-century feel, this would be fine for the fashion forward individual....For those who are wondering if i'm crazy, cutouts? body hugging silhouettes? Okay okay we hear you, so how about something classy, sophisticated yet feminine, something that accentuates the waistline, Will that work for you? Get in touch with your sensual side...step out of the box a little.

For the party girl looking for something versatile? How about a strapless dress with fun kicky ruffles? This would be fabulous and its complete with a neckline that is totally accessory ready....the perfect piece of jewelry would be a bold multistrand necklace and/or bracelet or a fussy pair of earrings....

Remember when people wore dresses with one shoulder? well.....they're back! One shoulder dresses have made a massive comeback and will work beautifully for the holiday season seeing that no snow is forecasted for the Bahamas anytime soon. This chic design can be great on many body type and can make one appear taller.

Ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles, here's another trend that is hot and has made a full fashion circle. Ruffles are fabulous but we must say may not be for everyone.....most outfits that have ruffles don't even need much jewelry to accompany it, just a small pair of earrings.

So no matter what the color or the style of the dress, what really matters is your choice of accessories, use much thought when choosing them. Maybe this is the time for you to step out of your comfort zone and wear something you never thought you would....why not? you never know! It may work in your favour.....whatever your style, be who you wanna be!
